sobre mim

I came across this sentence when I was in high school, “Our world needs psychologists who can help to remove the pain from the soul of humanity”, and I suddenly felt that I want to be the one to help and to be at the service of these painful souls. That was a turning point in my life, and I chose psychology as the field of my studies for my bachelor degree. Interestingly, my other passion, the brain and its functionality led my focus to Neurocognition and Language in my Masters, in Portugal.

During my Masters, far from my family, culture, and language, I experienced some of the hardest moments in my life, which was the lack of communication with others as I wanted. I felt a lot of frustration and hopelessness when I was finding myself in situations that I could not express myself to others, and sometimes not even to myself. So, I started to observe mine and other interactions and communications, and I realised that although we can understand each other’s language, there are still a lot of unintentional misunderstandings that we face in our relationships and they have deep roots in our education.

All this guided me to search, learn and find different powers and capacities not only to know myself and my needs better, but also to have more efficient interaction with others. The more I learned and mastered my new techniques, the more I felt powerful, happy and in peace with myself and others.

Then it hit me, if I didn’t know who I am and what my social needs are? There might be other people out there dealing with all I went through. So, I gathered all my knowledge and experiences as a psychologist, teacher, musician and a woman, to create workshops on effective communication with the hope that I can remove a little bit of the pain from the beautiful souls.
